Representing the first year of issue for the denomination from the Carson City Mint, the 1870-CC Seated Liberty Half Dollar (Buy on eBay) had a mintage of just 54,617 coins. The issue circulated heavily and very few examples have survived. Any high-end circulated coins attract attention from specialists and pieces graded AU or higher are considered rarities. Only three or four uncirculated specimens are believed to exist.
